Frontier Airlines (F9)

Frontier Airlines is one of the two main ultra-low-cost carriers in the United States. The airline sells stripped-down base fares and unbundles almost everything else, including seat selection, carry-on bags, and checked bags. Frontier is best known for its all-Airbus A320-family fleet, animal-themed tail livery, and Denver-anchored route map that has expanded heavily into the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America in recent years. The carrier operates around 150 aircraft and serves more than 100 destinations across the United States and Latin America. Frontier does not codeshare or interline with other airlines, does not operate a regional brand, and does not fly long-haul international. Its business model is built on high aircraft utilisation, dense seating configurations, and ancillary revenue per passenger that consistently ranks among the highest in the world.

Baggage policy

Carry-onPersonal item that fits under the seat is free. The overhead carry-on costs $35 to $70 depending on route and how late in the booking flow it is added; counterintuitively, the carry-on is often the most expensive bag option on Frontier, so passengers who only need a small bag should fit everything into the personal item.
First checked bag (domestic)$35 to $80, varying by route, fare type, and how close to departure the bag is added; cheapest when bundled into the fare at the time of booking.
Second checked bag (domestic)Roughly $5 to $15 more than the first bag at the same booking stage.
Weight / size limitsFree allowance is 40 lb / 18 kg per bag (lower than the legacy 50 lb standard); overweight fees apply above that. 62 linear inches total dimensions.
First international checkedNo; bag fees apply on international flights too, but bundles such as 'The Works' include a checked bag and a carry-on.

Verify current fees on the carrier's site before booking — US airlines update bag pricing several times per year.
